Dining out in the area is not too expensive, and you could keep your costs down by shopping locally and do a little self catering, there is a barbeque at Sophia's House for guests to use, and with the fresh fruits, salad stuffs and vegetables you could prepare a healthy Cretan style meal with minimum effort.

You are best to hire a car for shopping and outings as the surrounding areas have plenty to offer to keep all ages satisfied.

  There are many beautiful beaches in the area to visit, try shopping at the Agora (market) in Chania, or visit the water park at Limnoupolis for a day out.

Rethymno is a lovely place to visit, it's dominated by the Venetian fortress that hugs the coastline, and looks down on the old town with it's picturesque harbours.
